About Ten Oaks
The Ten Oaks Project is a charitable, volunteer-driven organization that engages and connects children and youth from LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, two-spirit, queer) families, identities, and communities.
Based in Ottawa, the Ten Oaks Project was founded in 2004 and continues to offer a variety of essential programming each year.
We are guided by five core values:
- Empowerment through play
- Learning by doing
- Social justice
- Collaboration and innovation
We offer three annual camp programs to children and youth: Camp Ten Oaks (ages 8-17), Project Acorn (ages 16-24), and Oak Grove Family Camp (ages 0-99). We’re also in the process of developing a series of workshops for summer camp providers and those interested in learning more about kids who grow up in queer communities.
The Ten Oaks Project is operates in accordance with its Bylaws.
