About Ten Oaks
The Ten Oaks Project is a charitable, volunteer-driven organization that engages and connects children and youth from 2SLGBTQ+ (two spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer) identities, families, and communities.
Based in Ottawa, the Ten Oaks Project was founded in 2004 and continues to offer a variety of essential programming each year.
We are guided by five core values:
- Empowerment through play
- Learning by doing
- Social justice
- Collaboration and innovation
We offer four annual camp programs to children and youth: Camp Ten Oaks (ages 8-17), Project Acorn (ages 16-24), Oak Grove Family Camp (all ages), and Camp Lifting Leaves (ages 8-21). We also offer a series of workshops for summer camp providers to help them build capacity to welcome campers from 2SLGBTQ+ identities.
The Ten Oaks Project operates in accordance with its Bylaws.
Our work is guided by our 2019-2021 Strategic Plan.
