Annual General Meeting
The Ten Oaks Project hosts an annual general meeting (AGM), open to membership, which reviews the following subjects:
- Financial statements
- Bylaw changes (if there are any)
- Proposed slate of incoming Board of Directors
- General updates about Ten Oaks Project
Upcoming AGM
The details for the next AGM will be released within 30 days of the meeting date, which is typically at the end of November. Members will receive an email including the date, time, location, means of participating and any relevant documents.

Feedback Reports & Evaluations
Every year, we solicit and receive feedback through various avenues during and after our programs from our camper families and volunteer staff. The year-end feedback report is based on all the feedback we received through the camp evaluation forms filled out by our camper families and volunteer staff. We are sharing these reports with our communities as part of our commitment to continual learning and to ensure transparency in our programming development and improvement.
Financials
Our goal is to be transparent. That’s why we share as much information as possible about how Ten Oaks operates and manages its financial resources including revenues and expenses.
We share this information in a number of ways – including newsletters, emails, updates on this website, annual reports, audited financial statements and at our Annual General Meeting.

Based in Ottawa, the Ten Oaks Project has been meeting the needs of children and youth from 2SLGBTQ+ identities, families, and communities since launching its first summer camp in 2005. With innovative and cutting-edge programming modelled on the principles of social justice, campers learn through play, workshops, and social interaction to enhance self-esteem, life skills, independence, leadership, and self-confidence. The Ten Oaks Project strives to ensure programs remain economically accessible and are safer spaces where children and youth of 2SLGBTQ+ communities can thrive.

The Ten Oaks Project receives $20,000 Community Investment – Seed Grant
Ottawa – July 4, 2020 – Ten Oaks Project is growing with a $20,000 Community Investment Seed grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. The Community Investment Seed grant allows non-profit organizations to help new ideas take root that will drive positive change in our communities. Every summer, around the campfire and under the stars, we create intentional magic for children and youth from 2SLGBTQ+ communities. With this seed grant, we can spread our magic further and create intentional community spaces for 2SLGBTQ+ families.
Over the next year, Ten Oaks Project will launching new programs under the direction of a new Community Engagement Coordinator which will include an eight-week closed support group for parents of transgender and/or gender-diverse children, and a monthly discussion and education group for prospective 2SLGBTQ+ parents and a variety of community events.
“Building inclusive and engaged communities together, this initiative will create opportunities for 2SLGBTQ+ families to meet others with similar identities and family structure, receive peer support and form stronger connections.”

Ottawa Organization Supporting 2slgbtq+ Children And Families Recognizes Generous Grant From The Ontario Trillium Foundation
Ottawa – April 1, 2023 – On Sunday, the Ten Oaks Project was pleased to recognize an $86,600 Resilient Communities Fund grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, which has supported the organization develop strategies to diversify revenue sources and adapt its in-demand family supports for virtual service delivery.
“The Ten Oaks Project’s work provides a beautiful and vital service to our Ottawa community, during a time when spaces for 2SLQBTQ+ community members and their families are so desperately needed,” said Joel Harden, MPP for Ottawa Centre. “I am excited to see them continue to serve our 2SLQBTQ+ neighbours, and the broader Ottawa Centre community, with the help of OTF and the Resilient Communities Fund.”
The Ten Oaks Project received the OTF funding in spring 2022 to help recover from the impacts of the Covid 19 pandemic,and adapt their in-demand programming into virtual formats as a means of reaching a diverse range of community members. The grant has also been by Ten Oaks Project to develop expertise to diversify revenue streams and support staff in order to maintain the long-term stability and efficacy of the organization’s programs. One such program, Families in TRANSition, offers in-depth support to the parents and caregivers of trans and gender diverse youth in Ottawa and the surrounding areas. Thanks to the Resilient Communities Fund grant, this highly sought-after program is now staffed full-time and able to provide services on a yearly basis.
