Families in Transition
The Ten Oaks Project is excited to announce a new partnership with Central Toronto Youth Services! We will be working together to offer a Families in Transition group for parents and caregivers of trans, gender diverse, and gender-questioning youth in Ottawa and surrounding areas.
What is families in transition?
The FIT Program is a 10-week group that meets once per week for 2 hours. The group provides parents with information about gender identity and trans issues, strategies for improving communication and connection with trans/gender questioning young people, and general support in parenting a trans/gender-questioning youth.
The FIT group is open to parents of school-aged trans/non-binary/gender-questioning children and youth (ages 5-24), who are new to supporting their child’s gender identity or expression.
We offer a separate group for children and youth that runs on a different evening (age range may vary depending on interest). If your young person doesn’t want to attend or isn’t able, you (and any co-parents) can still attend the parent group. We ask that participants commit to coming to all the sessions.
