Site & Logistics

Our Site

Project Acorn takes place at the Bonnenfant Y Outdoor Centre of the National Capital Region YMCA-YWCA.

Unfortunately, our site is not fully accessible, however, we are working with our partner, the National Capital Region YMCA-YWCA to work to make this a possibility. The site is a long and wide one that we share during daytimes with YMCA-YWCA day camps. We have sectioned off a portion of the site that is just for our use. The site includes waterfront (for swimming and boating), workshop spaces, a dining hall, and a number of large open spaces for lounging, group activities, or ropes or climbing fun.

Meals

Meals are a hugely important part of Project Acorn. We work really hard to accommodate all kinds of diet, including vegan, vegetarian, and all types of allergies. We serve three meals a day, and try and make sure there's a large variety of choices. If you have particular favorites, let us know in advance and we can try and make it happen. There is also a snack corner for those moments when hunger gets the better of you!

Sleeping Arrangements

The sleeping areas at Project Acorn are large cabins that have a porch, a common area, and four rooms with four bunks within. Sleeping areas are totally mixed, however, you can let us know if you would like a sleeping space shared with certain identities or folks and we will do our best to accommodate.

Bathrooms

The bathrooms and showers at Project Acorn are gender-neutral. They are currently being significantly renovated and improved. Bathrooms are all individual stalls. Showers have individual stalls. You can also sign up for a private time in the showers where you can have the whole of the shower room to yourself.

Workshops

Workshops are held all around the site in both outdoor and indoor spaces. Workshops usually have a minimum of 6 people up to a maximum of 12. Workshops topics cover a huge range.
