PROJECT ACORN LEADERSHIP RETREAT:  JULY 8-11, 2010

CALL FOR WORKSHOP PROPOSALS

Project Acorn is a leadership retreat for youth aged 16-24 from LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, two-spirit, and queer) communities (including youth from LGBTQ families and/or youth who identify as LGBTQ). It offers youth a safe space to be themselves, learn from each other, and try new things, while recognizing and developing their strengths as leaders.
Over four days at a sleep-away retreat in Ottawa from July 8-11, 2010, Project Acorn will allow youth to celebrate the uniqueness of our communities, while building knowledge and capacity, ultimately providing the tools and confidence to help youth make the change they want to see, in ways most consistent with who they are.
The program is designed by the Project Acorn Youth Advisory Committee.  Most workshops will be 1 hour and 45 minutes in duration.  We welcome submissions of dynamic workshops connected to the Project Acorn framework from both youth and adult facilitators.
