Application Process

The Executive Director, Project Acorn Coordinator, members of the Board of Directors, and members of the Project Acorn Youth Advisory Committee will review all written applications for Project Acorn. Applicants will be then contacted to participate in an informal phone discussion with one adult and one youth leader to explore personal leadership goals and fit for Project Acorn this year.

All applicants will be notified whether or not they have been selected to participate in Project Acorn 2010.

Applicants who apply after the selection process is complete will be put on a waiting list for consideration in the event of an opening.

Applications can be submitted by e-mail or regular mail:

Fees and Financial Assistance

The Ten Oaks Project is committed to the economic accessibility of its programs. This means that while the cost of Project Acorn is more than $700 per participant, we are committed to offering every successful Project Acorn participant an entrance scholarship of $550, bringing retreat costs down to $150.

However, should $150 be more than what you can afford in order to participate, we’re committed to working out a price that you can reasonably afford. No participant will be turned away because they are unable to pay the participant fee.

Next Steps

If you are successful in your application to participate in Project Acorn, you will be asked to complete additional forms including medical information, media release(s) in addition to reviewing Project Acorn guidelines for participation.  We will also send you information regarding transportation to and from the site, and your participant fee will be discussed and down payment provided.
