Queer Family Film Day -
Ottawa
The Ten Oaks Project, Divergence Movie
Night and Around The Rainbow are teaming up to bring you a queer family
film and activity day.
On Saturday,
October 13 from 1-4 pm at the Jack Purcell Community Centre
(320 Elgin Street, 2nd Floor), join us with your parents, your kids, or just
yourself for
an afternoon of film viewing. The event will include
films on LGBT families from three different decades in one
room.  1:15pm
Homoteens
Autobiographical portraits from 5 young New York City
queers. 2:30pm In My Shoes: Stories of
Youth with LGBT Parents 5 children of LGBT parents
discuss their lives. 3:15pm Choosing Children A
1984 film about lesbians who choose to have
children. In the other room, Around the Rainbow will
offer two family-friendly art project for this special
event. Celebrate Diverse
Families Work with community artist Jojo
Cadieux-Firth to make your own piece of the community quilt!
Using paint and fabric, we will create and collaborate a
family portrait on canvas.
Create a Community Hand Painted
Film Work with artist/filmmaker Marika Jemma and
create a hand painted 16mm film. Accessible to anyone who can
hold a marker, spliced together on site and projected by end
of afternoon! Of particular interest to
youth! Whether you have kids, want kids, are a kid, play with
your friends kids or just want to see some great
documentaries, please join in on this exciting day.
The event is all ages and family oriented.
Snacks are
available. Free admission, donations encouraged.
If we get a good reception we
will consider making this a regular
event.

2006 Annual Report
Our 2006 Annual Report is now available
on our website. Included in this report you can
find information on our financial position, thanks to
our supporters and donors, highlights from our 2006 camp
session and other relevant information on our organization in
the previous year. Annual General
Meeting
The Ten Oaks Project Annual General
Meeting is scheduled to take place on November 22, 2007 at
7:00 pm. We're shaking up the format of the event, so
please stay tuned for details.
Members can expect to
receive voting packages by the end of this month. New
this year, we will be coordinating advance voting to take
place via electronic ballot.

Search for Office Space
Continues
After three years without
permanent space, the Ten Oaks Project is now looking for
shared office space in Ottawa to call its own. We're
seeking 1 - 2 closed rooms, access to a board room/meeting
space and a shared photocopier and fax.

Foundation has announced that they'll be supporting the
Ten Oaks Project in 2007 through their granting program. The
Foundation strives to make a positive and lasting difference
in the lives of children and youth in the eastern Ontario and
western Quebec by supporting registered charitable
organizations whose programs focus on improving the quality of
life for underprivileged children and youth.

Ten Oaks Project is a not-for-profit, charitable organization.
Our mission is to develop, promote, provide and support
programming for the children of LGBTQ and/or non-traditional
families, LGBTQ youth, and their allies. We currently offer
one program: Camp Ten Oaks.
