Inside Edition - Preview of 2007 Camp Highlights

Special Guest Elvira Kurt

To keep camp fresh each year, we bring in special guests to shake up our regularly scheduled programming.  This year, we're pleased that comedian Elvira Kurt will be joining us at camp to bring our campers a raging afternoon of improvisation.  A Toronto native and alumna of Second City, Elvira Kurt is an accomplished comedian who has starred in an acclaimed Comedy Central half-hour special, has earned multiple nominations as College Comedian Of The Year, and has countless other TV credits as a comic, actress, host, writer - often on gay-lesbian shows.

A Brief Glimpse at Our Social Justice Programming

In response to popular demand, our 2007 social justice theme will focus on bullying where campers will work with their cabin groups on a special activity led by their counselors.

We've also focussed one of the week-long choice activities on social justice issues in addition to our LAC program.  To round our the social justice program, we will engage campers in the all-time camp favourite, Across the Grass, and have added various cracker barrel meals which will allow campers to chose topics and delve into those at select meal times to the schedule.

In the Community

Ottawa Pride

marching in prideLike years past, the Ten Oaks Project will be marching in the Capital Pride parade and will be setting up a booth in the community information area on Sunday, August 26, 2007.

We are inviting campers, parents, guardians and families connected to the Ten Oaks Project to put on their walking shoes and join us in the parade. We also encourage other fun outfit add-ons and ideas that are in the sprit of pride.  Meet us on August 26 at 12:30 pm at the Garden of the Provinces (nearest intersection - Bronson and Wellington).
