Families and friends come out and celebrate
Ten Oaks Project Family Founders Picnic

This past Victoria Day, the Ten Oaks Project hosted a Family Founders Picnic at Riverain Park in Ottawa. Under sunny skies, camp families, friends, board members, volunteers and supporters celebrated the Ten Oaks Project's 5th anniversary including a special tribute to our founders, Julia Alarie and Holly Wagg.

The event unfolded in true Ten Oaks style with volunteers on hand to organize activities and crafts for the kids and musical entertainment provided by Dog and Pony Show. Everyone enjoyed some great BBQ fare, a slice of delicious anniversary cake and excited conversations about the upcoming session of camp and the launch of Project Acorn, for youth ages 16-24 from LGBTQ families and/or queer youth that is taking place from July 23 to 26.

mmm...hot dogs!

We'd like to thank all of our volunteers for helping out on the day of the event. We'd also like to thank the City of Ottawa who provided a community grant to help us host what we hope will become an annual Ten Oaks Project event!

Picnickers!
