How to Bowl-A-Thon in SIX Easy Steps
STEP 1
MAKE A TEAM OR CHOOSE TO GO SOLO
Call up your friends, family, co-workers, neighbours and ask them to join a bowling team. It only takes 4-6 players to form a team. If you don’t have enough players to make a team, no worries! You can choose to fly solo and we’ll put you on a team. No previous bowling experience or skills are required to put the “fun” in fundraiser.
STEP 2
CALL TO RESERVE YOUR LANE BY FEBRUARY 27
Let the Ten Oaks Project know the name of your team, or if you want us to put you on a team, by February 27. Bowling and prize winning will happen on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Walkley Bowling Centre in Ottawa. There are only 30 lanes available, so book your lane early! All lanes must be reserved in advance by calling 613.321.2825 or emailing bowl@tenoaksproject.org.
STEP 3
GET PLEDGES
Set up an online profile and/or use a pledge sheet, to hit the hallways, streets and inboxes of your network of family and friends to collect pledges. Pledges to bowl are a flat fee, not a per pin amount.
We ask each adult team member to raise a minimum of $50 in pledges, youth ages 12 and up to raise $35 and children to raise $20. You can also check out our handy fundraising tips.
STEP 4
WIN GREAT PRIZES!
Every bowler who raises more than $75 qualifies for a stellar, fantastic and stupendous prize from our prize pile. In addition, aim high and be a superstar.
Superstar Award
for the bowler who raises the most money
Adult 1 year fitness membership to the National Capital Region YMCA-YWCA ($700)
Youth Gift certificate ($50) and gift package ($100) from Top of the World
Child Gift certificate to Mrs. Tiggy Winkles ($40)
STEP 5
BE A TEAM LEADER AND GET YOUR BOWL ON
Prior to the camptastic Bowl-A-Thon, arrange to meet your teammates 30 minutes before your shift begins. Encourage each person to meet their minimum fundraising amount and remind them to bring the money to the event. Pledges should be collected in advance and cheques can be made payable to the Ten Oaks Project. Online pledges will be added to individual totals.
Please note that only pledges submitted at the time of the event will count towards fundraising totals for prizes.
STEP 6
WIN MORE PRIZES!!
Once your team is registered, pick up your bowling balls, get your bowl on and have loads of fun while you win more prizes! Dream up groovy outfits and funky cheers to win the MOST OUTRAGEOUS TEAM SPIRIT prize. Raise the most money for Camp Ten Oaks and win the SUPERSTAR AWARD. Enter the ADVENTURE BOWLING CHALLENGE where your team will be assigned tasks to complete for each bowling frame while the prizes flow. The ways to win prizes are endless! Keep your eyes peeled and your ears sharp while you bowl the night away.
