Salina comes to the Ten Oaks Project with over 25 years experience working with Special Needs Children and Youth. With a B.A. in Psychology and Early Childhood Education, and a Graduate Diploma in Counseling and Assessment from the University of Toronto, Salina began her career as an Educator and Therapist. Presently, she is the Manager of Children’s Day Treatment Services at a non-profit Agency in Toronto.
In her present position as Manager, she is responsible for overseeing two day programs (70 students), in partnership with the Toronto District School Board. Through training in innovative treatment methods and a holistic approach, the program offers individualized treatment and education for students with complex special needs. Salina’s responsibilities include strategic vision planning, program development, hiring, ongoing training, supervision of management team, and direct working partnership with school board principals and counterparts in the Ministry of Community and Social Services.
Salina has been a long-time advocate for children and youth who require specialized services in order to increase their quality of life. Her interest in the Ten Oaks Project stems from her strong belief in the importance of providing a safe, accepting and creative environment for children, to enable them to build their self-esteem and develop strength in their diversity.
