Holly has over ten years of extensive experience working in a leadership capacity with not-for-profits, youth-driven and queer organizations. In the past, she has worked with the Canadian AIDS Society, Project 10/Projet 10 in Montréal, POWER Camp National/Filles d’Action, Big Sisters of York Region and the Newmarket Youth & Recreation Centre.
The spark igniting the Ten Oaks Project originated from her own involvement in summer camps and her volunteer work with Mountain Meadow, an American two-week summer camp for children of LGBTQ and non-traditional families. Alongside her wife, Holly co-founded the Ten Oaks Project in April of 2004 and became a parent in 2007 with the adoption of two children ages 9 and 11.
Currently, Holly is the Senior Manager, Marketing and Communications at the National Capital Region YMCA-YWCA. Not only a seasoned communications professional, her skill set also includes camp planning, program and organizational development, event management, grant writing and facilitation. Holly holds a Master of Arts in Media Studies (Concordia University, 2004) and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and English (Wilfrid Laurier University, 2001).
