After months of dreaming, planning, and collecting feedback from our communities, we launched a new project in the spring of 2019 called Shaping Parenthood, a discussion group for 2SLGBTQ+ communities in Ottawa to explore and reflect on the possibilities, challenges, and appreciation of queering family-making and child-raising!
Our hope is to support reflection and connection to resources for both the planning (“how to…”) and puzzling (“how come…”) aspects of parenting and building family which reflects people’s values while exploring the intersections of parenting and social justice.
On the fourth Wednesday of each month, Shaping Parenthood will offer a space to talk, connect, share, and learn about a specific topic related to shaping 2SLGBTQ+ families. Unless otherwise specified, meetings are open to everyone and run from 7:00-9:00 PM. Locations will be posted on the Facebook event pages.
