How to volunteer at camp
Camp Ten Oaks is staffed by an amazing team of volunteers. We look for volunteers who have extensive experience working with children and youth both in and outside of camp settings, specialized skills to enhance the programming offered at camp, and who are committed to working from social justice principles. We also want people who are camper-centred, supportive, enthusiastic, nurturing, respectful, dynamic, creative and fun-loving!
All volunteers must participate in a mandatory staff orientation held at camp (a weekend in mid-May) and be available to work at camp (a week in July/August).
We are not currently accepting volunteer applications – please check back in early 2018! We’ll post an application form here, and ask you to submit a completed copy along with your resume to us via email. Please note that only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
Our staff-to-camper ratio is a minimum of 1:3. Every member of the staff team at Camp Ten Oaks applies to have this volunteer opportunity. All staff must successfully complete an interview process, reference checks and a police background check. Our staff also participate in a mandatory weekend-long orientation and training.
Commitment to Equity
In keeping with the Ten Oaks Project’s commitment to equity, applicants are strongly encouraged to self-identify in their applications. Applicants are encouraged to share accessibility needs in the application process, and every attempt will be made to accommodate them.
Camp Ten Oaks offers its volunteer staff members a tiered scale honorarium to cover expenses such as time off work and transportation to and from camp. Click here for more info!
